Well, after 45+ days of blog silence we decided we better get to updating the blog. It’s kind of funny how blog inactivity develops… you get busy.. things happen that you want to blog about… but you don’t want to blog about the new stuff cause you still haven’t had a chance to go and write about the old. In any event we are going to take a stab at covering the last 45 days and get back to writing in the blog on a regular basis again.
The car accident in El Paso proved to be a total pain in the neck. Because the accident could have been the fault of the truck making the illegal u-turn or the motor home we were completely stuck in the middle. Nobody willing to pick up a rental car for us or anything until fault was determined. (We are still waiting for the other companies to make up their minds) Dealing with the Dick Poe automotive group there in El Paso has been total chaos. At one point nobody could find my car for near a day. It went from being totaled, to being a minor repair, to being a major overhaul. Our insurance ended up forking out $6,000+ to fix the car and I flew down to El Paso two weeks ago to pick it up. When I flew into town and called the body shop, the service manager I had been working with was mysteriously nowhere to be found that day. This despite his knowledge that I was flying in that day to get my car. I showed up at the body shop and waited another 4 hours while they finished up a few minor details and “washed my car.” What makes it even better is upon getting back to Utah I had to take it to a local Body Shop for them to do the job right.
After the accident we left our car there in El Paso and continued on to Orange County. The accident of course cut our trip to my parents house short. However while there we did have a very good time seeing family and friends. Peter & Brian came over on New Year’s Eve and we hung out for a bit before they resumed their evening of searching for Mrs. Right hopping from party to party. Mostly our short stint in California was spent with me on the phone trying to figure out what was going on with my car back in El Paso.

We rented another car to drive from Orange County back to Spanish Fork. We had to rent cars as we had a carload full of gifts that would have just been impractical to take with us on an airplane. Once back in Utah we started our final semester at BYU…woohoo! It was pretty tough sharing one car commuting in from Spanish Fork but surprisingly enjoyable. I never was very successful in getting Mandy to drop me off for my 8:00 class in time, but it was nice as we got to spend a lot more time together than we usually do driving each other to and fro. We like to think that sharing the car is one of the reasons we fell so far behind on the blog…it is amazing how much time it takes dropping and picking up from Spanish Fork to Provo takes.
The Snow this year has been UNBELEIVABLE!!!!! I wouldn’t mind to never live somewhere with snow ever again after this winter. We had to miss Jaxen’s (Mandy’s cousins’ baby boy) baby blessing because I-15 had about 6 inches of snow on it a couple of weeks ago. Here in Spanish Fork it seems like every other day we have received another 4-6 inches ever since January. I think Utah is sitting at 130% of the average snowpack for this time of year or some statistic like that.
We were very sad about the passing of President Hinckley. Our friend Scott Wall called us that night and let us know before the news broke in the media. While we are both excited for President Monson it is sad to realize the major prophet of our lifetimes is no longer with us. Interesting Factoid…President Monson actually dated my grandmother. If you bump into him he can still remember the songs that they danced to on one of their dates…

I’m sure Mandy has a lot to add and we will post about our Valentine’s Day weekend in Vegas, but hopefully this is at least a good start to getting back on the blogging track…
