Touring New York City

Matthew and I have been really enjoying our summer here in New York. Last week my parents came to out to visit us. They had never been to the city before, other than passing through on an airline connection. It was a lot of fun to show them around the town for their first time. I think we wore out my poor mother with all the walking. Matthew was pretty busy with training and had an exam while they were here so he met up with us whenever he could.

We were able to fit a lot of fun activities in. We hit a lot of the major tourist sites such as the Empire State Building, Central Park, Times Square, 5th Ave, Ground Zero, Battery Park, Wall Street, Brooklyn Bridge, NBC tour, and even a Yankees game. We also went and saw Wicked on Broadway which was fantastic!

While they were here, Breaking Dawn, the new Stephanie Meyers book had its release. I couldn’t miss the chance to be one of the first to get my copy. My Mom and I dragged Matthew and Dad to the Breaking Dawn Party at the Borders near Penn Station. We waited in line to get our copies while Matthew and Dad hung out and watched in disbelief all of the crazy fans dressed in costumes. They were such good sports.

My Mom’s favorite part of the trip was going to FAO Schwarz and playing on the big piano. She had so much fun! My Dad’s favorite part would be a tie between going to the Yankees game and Pinkberry. Once he and my mom tasted Pinkberry, they made sure we stopped and got one each day until they left.

We are so glad that my parents were able to come and visit us while we were here. It was so much fun watching them walk around the busy streets of Manhattan, enjoy the crazy taxi rides and experience the wonderful subways.
