Never Forget

Here is my story…

I was a senior in high school and was getting ready like any normal school morning. My dad was already off to work and I remember walking into the living room looking for my mom when I saw the first Trade Center Tower that was hit on our television. My mom and I stood there in shock staring at the television wondering what was going on. Then all of a sudden we witnessed the second plane hit the other Trade Center Tower. At this point we knew that it was no longer an accident but a deliberate attack on U.S. soil. After standing in shock for a moment we pulled ourselves together and continued on with our day. I arrived to my first class and the news was on the television. Me, along with my fellow peers and teacher, continued to watch the news through the entire class period. Before class was over both towers had collapsed. I can still hear all the gasps that filled the room when these events took place. The rest of the school day was not a normal day. Every class period we watched the news and witnessed history. At the end of this tragic day my heart went out to those who were directly effected but also grateful that I was able to go home to my family.

Three years later Matthew flew me to New York for my first time. While I was there I had the chance to visit Ground Zero. I remember walking around seeing all the posters filled with pictures related to 9.11. Being overwhelmed with emotion Matthew and I stood there in silence paying our respects to those who died.

On this day my heart continues to go out to those families who lost their loved ones and I will never forget what happened on 9.11.2001

I had about the same day you did on Sept 11, years ago. School wasn't the same. The TV was on in every class.
How neat to be able to visit that humbling site and pay your respects.

That is definitley a day that will probably always stick out. It's amazing that after so many years, we can still feel the feelings we felt as if it were yesterday.
