A Crazy Two Weeks

These last couple of weeks have been very busy for both Matthew and I. Matthew has been in New York training for his new job, and I took the chance to go visit my family in Texas. Before we started our crazy summer and head our separate ways we took some time to explore San Francisco a bit. What a fun town? We hit the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Lombard street. It is so beautiful here. Everywhere you turn is another breathtaking view…well at least when it is not foggy.

While we were out we took the chance to get my Dad some fresh Dungeness Crab. He loves his crab and we thought it might be a fun way to share our new city with him. I carried it on the plane with me down to Texas. He loved it!

This is where we bought my Dad's crab

Matthew’s training was very intense but he really enjoyed meeting all the other interns and learning more about Goldman. Ever since he got back to San Francisco he loves every minute of work and enjoys everything he is doing in the office. It doesn’t matter if he is working into the early morning hours he continues to want more. I haven’t seen him much, but when I do he is always very happy.

While Matthew was in training, my sister Marissa got married in the Dallas Temple on May 19, 2007 to her long time boyfriend Ryan Bassham. They have been together for years. It was a great ceremony and reception. Marissa was a beautiful bride and Ryan was a handsome groom. As my mom would put it “It was a oh happy day!”

After all the wedding stuff was over my parents and grandparents took me out to dinner for a belated Texas birthday celebration. We went to Maggiano’s, possibly the greatest Italian restaurant ever. I highly recommend it if you are ever in a city where there is one. But I warn you will leave STUFFED.

Also while in Texas I got my wisdom teeth taken out and to this day I am still wanting to eat real food. The first couple of days I was not in a lot of pain and wasn’t swollen to badly. Come the third day I was in a lot of pain and really swollen. I laid on the couch watching murder she wrote with my mother while I recovered from the surgery.

Now all the commotion has finally calmed down and Matthew and I have finally reunited in San Francisco. We haven’t ever been apart that long before, eleven days in total, and it was like starting all over when we saw each other again at the airport. It’s great to be back together and sleeping in each other’s arms. As for now, Matthew is working long hours and I am getting our apartment set up and trying to get familiar with the area. I start school June 18 so I plan to enjoy having no obligations for the next couple of weeks. June 14 my parents are coming into town and we look forward to having them come and showing them what the San Francisco life is all about. We welcome anyone else who wants to come and pay us a visit in the beautiful city by the bay!

Mandy, enjoy your memebership in the "Day Club". I spent one summer in the "Day Club" after I graduated and although not fufilling in any substanial way it's nice not having to go to work or study for tests.

Hey, so I just found your blog. I love being able to see how your doing. I'm so sorry you had to get your wisdom teeth out. It doesn't look fun. Andrew just got his out-he's preparing for a mission, crazy!- and Julia gets hers out next month. I'm so excited for you to be in California. It looks so beautiful. I hope school goes well.
