I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas

Christmas day was perfect! To make it even more special we woke up to snow on the ground! It snowed/iced a ton on Christmas Eve and stuck through the night. The snow was gone by the afternoon but it was fun to have around for the holidays. Christmas morning we all woke up around 8 a.m. and began opening up all the gifts Santa brought us. When we finally finished around noon we ate a delicious breakfast my mother made. Later that afternoon Ryan and Marissa went to the Bassham’s and the rest of us went and saw Sherlock Holmes. Such a great movie! We highly recommend it. That evening Matthew and I had dinner with my parents and then played guitar hero all night long. It was truly a great day!

The rest of our stay in Texas was fantastic. It was wonderful to be on vacation and see so much family and friends. Matthew and my dad and some fun bonding time just two of them. Over a couple of days they did some shopping and ate at Smash Burger and Truluck’s (famous for their stone crab). Marissa and I had lunch with Jamie and finally met baby Cohen. He is adorable and it was great to see Jamie again after so many years. Matthew and I had a wonderful dinner with Joy and Raelynn at Silver Fox (the filet just melts in your mouth). They are way to kind to us but it is always a delight to visit with them. We can’t wait for their next visit to California! Mom and I had lunch with Jerri. She is one of my favorite people and I always enjoy catching up with her. Another fun night with the family was when we went and saw Avatar!! Words cannot describe this movie. This is a must see in theaters! My favorite line …“I see you.”

On a side note, some may have noticed a giant penguin my parent’s front yard in the picture above. Well here is the story. Ever since we have been married Matthew has gone on about how Texans don’t believe in multi colored lights and giant snow globes at Christmas time. Apparently Californian’s do, which I have noticed the years we have been in the OC for Christmas. In my opinion I think the OC folks could use a lesson or two from the Dallas folks. Anyways, every year he teases my parents on how they decorate the outside of their house. So this year my dad thought it would be funny to surprise Matthew with this big giant penguin when he arrived on Christmas Eve. My mom thought it would be funny but wanted it on the side of the house not in front where everyone could see it. Well the penguin went up 30 minutes before Matthew arrived and then came right down when we left. I have a feeling that penguin will be living in a box until Christmas 2011. The point of the story is Matthew got such a kick out of it and just loved the penguin. It made his Christmas.

Well, our trip was terrific and we want to give a special thanks to my family. This was our last Christmas just the six of us before baby Z joins us. You guys really made our Christmas special this year and we can’t thank you enough for all that you do. We were definitely spoiled this trip and enjoyed every minute with you guys.
