Ever since we moved to San Francisco we have been trying to get Craig & Diane to come up and join us for Fleet Week. With Diane's cancer and Craig's trips to Australia & Denmark something always seemed to get in the way. Not this year though! We were finally able to get them to come up and see all the rage we had been talking about these past few years.
We booked special tickets at the Marina Green so we could see the show in its entirety in nice seats right up close. The Green had all sorts of military exhibits including a field hospital you could tour ahead of the show. Craig and Matthew both loved all the close encounters with the impressive fighter jets.
We enjoyed the air show on Saturday and on Sunday we had the whole family over to our apartment to enjoy Sunday brunch and general conference. After the morning session of conference we walked over and toured a large Naval Amphibious Assault Ship that was docked just 3 blocks from our apartment. Diane struggled with the walking and left early with Megan but the rest of us enjoyed the tour of the ship.
On Monday, Craig came back to the city and he and I toured several other Navy ships that were docked in the city before he and Diane drove back to Orange County. It was a lot of fun and we hope to get them up here again for another fleet week in the future!
