School Christmas Party

Yesterday we had our Christmas party. We ate some yummy food, received stockings from our teacher and played the white elephant game. A few of us got surgical hats in our stockings and had to take a picture. What makes them cool is the pattern on them is red blood cells!

We got some exciting news during the party and found out our first clinical rotation site. I am going to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital!! LPCH is the children's hosptial at Stanford and I couldn't be happier about starting my clinicals there. Wish me luck!

Autopsy

For my surgical technology class we had the chance to observe an autopsy. We were all really excited about it but the lady who died that morning ended up having active TB (tuberculosis) so they were not allowed to cut her open with us in the room. We did get to observe her and have a discussion about things. Afterwards we did get to play with some very fresh well preserved organs. It was so much fun!!
